This report provides updated information on the status of implementation of the GOK/UN Joint Programme on Gender for the period January to August 2013.

The information contained in the report was gathered from the output lead agencies using a reporting template that was developed by the secretariat and reviewed by Participating UN Organizations (PUNOs) at the August 2013 Programme Working Group (PWG) meeting. Lead agencies were required to report on their achievements in 2013 as measured against each of the key result areas. The information was further validated at the JP GEWE Mid-year review workshop held at the Green Hills Hotel in Nyeri from 17th – 20th September.

The Government of Kenya - United Nations’ Joint Programme on Gender Equality and Women’s

Empowerment (JP GEWE) was launched in 2009 to jointly maximize the attainment of gender equality in alignment with national policies, strategies and frameworks. JP GEWE brings together 14 United Nations’ (UN) agencies under One Programmatic Framework. It provides a strong platform for the GoK and the UN to coordinate and serve the needs of Kenya in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
